Kustom Kar Kommandos is definitely camp. I find it interesting how the artifice actual works to help the viewer decode the piece. The feather duster seems so incongruous and short circuits the visual experience in a way. This doesn't seem to be NAIVE camp though. . it seems more self aware. . .camp which knows itself to be camp "which is always less satisfying" Sontag says. In saying things like this she actually betrays "pure camp." Think about this actually makes me think that "pure camp" these days might actually be more of a way to approach work than an end.
